Support Coastal Georgia Hospitality & Service Workers
The Golden Isles Track Club is hosting a Virtual 5K to benefit the Firebox Initiative. The initiative started by the hard-working guys from Southern Soul; they provide financial grants to folks in our local Coastal Georgia hospitality and service industry. They need our support now more than ever. ALL proceeds from this event will go to Firebox Initiative.
What is a Virtual 5K? Participants walk or run a 3.1-mile distance anywhere, anytime after you register. Many devices can track your time/distance – Fitbit, Garmin, Apple Watch, iPhone, Android, etc...
Who is it for? This is for all ages – young and old – anyone who wants to help a worthy cause!
What about the results? You do not need to “prove” your results…BUT…you are welcome to get creative and post photos on social media. Just use the #FeedingFirebox5K
Where should I walk/run? Anywhere you like – your neighborhood, on the beach, even a treadmill. Just be mindful of your social-distance! If you live near St. Simons Island, here are some popular routes:
- Redfern Village to Sea Palms Guest Entrance –3 miles
- Shops at Sea Island to Christ Church - 3 miles
- Pier to King and Prince Resort – 1 mile
What do I get? You will receive a fabulous Feeding Firebox 5K t-shirt – available for pickup at Frosty’s Drive-Thru on St. Simons Island (after May 14). Shirt(s) can also be mailed via USPS for an additional $5 fee.
